Today, January 25, is the seventh annual Bell Let’s Talk Day, an occasion for Canadians to come together, discuss mental health issues, and raise money for various mental health initiatives around the country. All day, Bell will donate five cents for every text message, mobile call, and long distance call made by Bell Canada and Bell Aliant customers, and for every Twitter and Instagram post using #BellLetsTalk; every view of the Bell Let’s Talk Day video at Facebook.com/BellLetsTalk; and every use of the Bell Let’s Talk geofilter on Snapchat.

Since the program’s birth in 2010, Let’s Talk has raised $79,919,178.55 towards mental health programs in Canada. In 2016, #BellLetsTalk was the most used Twitter hashtag of the year in Canada, and the most used hashtag in the world on Bell Let’s Talk Day.

Neinstein Personal Injury Lawyers is a strong proponent of mental health research and initiatives around Ontario. Because we often work with seriously injured accident victims, we understand the great strain that mental illness can have on individuals and their families. We are proud to support not only Bell Let’s Talk, but also the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, and Put Up Your Dukes, a non-profit foundation co-founded by Neinstein’s own Harv Lewin that aims to improve the lives of those living with mental health and addiction issues.

Bell Let’s Talk focuses on four ‘key pillars’ to improving mental health in Canada: fighting stigmas, improving access to care, supporting research, and leading by example on mental health in the workplace.

Neinstein would like to remind our network that one-in-five Canadians experience mental illness in their lifetime, and that virtually everyone knows a friend, family member or colleague who will. Please take the time to watch this video, produced by Neinstein and Put Up Your Dukes, and consider donating to a local mental health organization and taking part in Bell’s Let’s Talk Day.
